OUR PHILOSOPHY
INTENTIONAL DESIGN SUSTAINABLE SOURCING
BEAUTY IN PROCESS

Founded by designer Meg Hughes, MIW is built on the belief that clothing should carry meaning, honesty, and craftsmanship.

Each garment is made in Manchester, with care and a commitment to slow fashion and true craft.

Collections evolve at a deliberate, reflective pace—prioritizing sustainable sourcing. For MIW, slowness is a mindset, not just a method.

A signature of the brand’s aesthetic came from the textured forms of octopus suckers, a strange fixation Meg’s carried through out her work for years. This creation of 3D circular detailing on puffer garments is now a key part of MIW’s visual language.

A NORTHERN LASS.

Keeping production local is at the heart of MIW. Manchester has shaped me—both as a person and a designer. It’s important that everything is made here in the North, where the city’s culture continues to influence my work.

Joining The Yard Atelier was a turning point. It gave me the space to develop MIW in a collaborative, creative environment, surrounded by a community that values support, experimentation, and shared growth. I’m absolutely gassed to be a part of it!

I’ve always fished in Anglesey with my dad —a quiet ritual that shaped the way I see and connect with the world. It’s in those moments by the water that I first learned to appreciate the raw, untamed beauty of nature.

My ongoing collections are possible because of him, he’s taught me to have respect for the elements and patience in the process.

NIKE

I was recently invited by Nike to create eight looks inspired by their DN8 trainers. As someone who’s always loved Nike kicks I was gassed to be collaborating with such an iconic brand.

The collection was showcased in Nike’s Manchester and London stores—an incredible opportunity to explore the oversized puffer silhouettes I love to create.

Merging my aesthetic with Nike’s was key. The bold, block-colour design of the DN8 trainers aligned seamlessly with my style, making the silhouettes feel even more dramatic and impactful. Huge thanks to the Nike team for getting me involved!
